I posted the following message on CHW this morning after I finally got back on the site again.  For any of our members who still aren’t able to access the site, please hang loose for a while.  It may be a day or two before you can get back in.  I’m sorry!  😦

Here’s the technical version of what’s going on with the servers right now.

1.  When the site was switched over to the new server, they neglected to make a change on the DSN that was required.  That has been resolved.

2.  However, Internet Service Providers (ISP) update their domain listings on a rotating basis.  So while my ISP may update daily or even every 4 hours… someone elses ISP may not update but every two days.  In which case, you (the users) won’t see the change and be able to access the site, until after your provider’s cycle happens again.

3.  For example, when I connect through the ISP we use at work, I’m able to access the site already.  But my ISP at home, hasn’t run their cycle yet.  So my computer at home is still only seeing the old domain location.

This is one of those time when having patience is about all we can do.  I apologize for the delays and the hassles!  Sure wish this was something I had control of.  But unfortunately I don’t, my friends.  If you are still hearing about members who can’t access by tomorrow at noon – could you please let me know?  Thanks so very much!

Since my email server hasn’t rolled over yet, I can’t send/recieve emails from crafthappy.  That’s the reason I’m posting this message here – hoping some of our members will see it and pass the word along to others.

I think Dell has some sort of plan to slowly but surely drive me completely out of my mind!  I just went through weeks and weeks of tech calls and arguing with their IT staff and finally got my computer replaced.  Here it is just a few months later and then last Thursday night the hardrive crashed.  The blue screen of death really was death this time.  Couldn’t even get the thing to reboot from disk and there’s absolutely no way to revive the poor bugger!  Ugh – I’m frustrated… again.

I do believe this is the last Dell I will buy.  For the longest time I’ve been a Dell fan.  But during the last few years their product as well as their customer service has really gone down hill — IMHO.  We’re gonna have to consider other options on the next computer purchase we make.

The IT fella is coming over this afternoon to replace my hardrive and get that lug back up and running.  I sure hope it’s the last time I have to use that warantee I bought.  Honestly I would have preferred to lose money on a warantee that I never used as apposed to using it over and over again.  Nevertheless, I sure am glad we renewed for another 3-year plan.  But when this new plan runs out in ’09 – that’s it.  No more Dells.

Life is just too precious for me to waste on the phone with IT techs who can’t even speak english and think they can BS me through a tech call.  Once they find out I have a fair amount of IT savvy and know my way around a computer – they do pull into line.  But my goodness, I think that’s stupid to treat your customers that way!  It’s very aggrivating and super poor customer service!

With this crash I lost a bit of information.  Not too much because most of my work gets transfered to the external hardrive within just a day of two of completing.  But still I lost more than what I’m comfortable with.  I have to rework a few projects.  I’m simply letting go of others as the stress to recreate them just isn’t worth it to me.  I get enough headaches from natural causes without me chancing another one over a stupid computer blowout.

Okay – big deep, relaxing, breath now.  I am not going insane, I am not going insane, I am not going insane.  You can’t get me.  You can’t get me.  You can not take my mind away from me.  Breeee..ath….. breee..ath.  Breath….. So my rant is over.  Thanks for letting me vent.  I’m off to accomplish a few more things before the technician shows up to…. replace yet another computer. *sigh*

Savor the Inside MomentAlthough I haven’t gotten in a great deal of scrapbooking, I have finally got back into the artful activities again after a bit of a lul in the studio.  Did some fun croppin’ in my art journal last weekend when I hosted a cyber crop at CHW.  If you haven’t already done so, pop on over to our gallery and check out the wonderful page spreads our members have accomplished.  Caroylyn from Cally’s Scrappy Stuff and Jeanne from My Tin Hair Musings joined me for the crop and then Judy picked up and created two journaling projects in her book a day or so later. Today I played hooky If you want to see the creative process behind our recent works, peek at the tutorial I wrote based on our cyber croppin’ good time too!

Besides croppin’ I have also been hoppin along with tons of projects for the new business, as well as preparing gift packages for a birthday party at CHW .  This, along with getting together some online activities and creating a few pieces of digi art to hand out is keeping my little hands and heart busy everyday.  I’m in one of those phases where I’m struggling a bit in the evenings because I can’t seem to get my brain to shut down long enough to get the sleep my body requires.  I tell that little brain to sleep…. sleep…. sleep….. and yet she just doesn’t.  Too much fuzzy buzz going on up there.

Even after a hot cup of tea and soothing sit in the hot tub, my mind was still jumping again last night.  It kept looping around and around with thoughts of thankfulness.  We have been on such a string of celebrations in our life lately and I’m truly lovin’ it!  We celebrated the birth of our 8th grandchild just as 2006 was closing out.  Then we had a good time partying with our “Boo” as she crossed-over the tassle on her graduation cap in June.   Following that, DH and I celebrated our dozenth year wedding anniversary.  As I mentioned earlier, I’m about to celebrate year 3 with my Craft Happy Website family and friends in August – the same month I’ll be “officially” launching my newest website Digital Scrapbook Designer Professionals.  How cool is all of that?!

Although my last round of shots did finally kick in and has started to make life more barable again, I’m still dealing with those stupid migraines.  As is far, far to often the case – one totally took me out of commission earlier this week.  But once that puppy was over I just pulled myself back up and went back to croppin’ hoppin’ and celebratin’!  These days my motto seems to be something along the lines of “Keep the pain killers coming, and let’s have us a good time, in the mean time!”  ROFLOL  🙂

This is posting 2 of 2 about my new career path decisions.  In the first one I do believe I just about bored everyone to death with my ramblings.  So I will try to keep this one much shorter and do a little less keyboard wandering.

To get straight to the answer I know that you are waiting for – I’ve decided to build a new career as an online consultant to artists and web-preneurs alike.  I know that as I move forward I will venture into various art fields.  But for the first couple of years I’m going to focus on the world of digi-scrapping.  The industry is still very young and has alot to offer.

The thing is that I’ve seen so many hobby scrappers become designers in this field and honestly I believe there are plenty of talented digi-art designers and store owners out there on the web already.  Although I do not agree with some who feel the digi-art industry is over saturated – I do think for me to go in the direction of digi-art design isn’t the right path for me.  I sure enjoy that part of the business but those deep waters of compitition are higher than I want to tredge through right now.  There are plenty of other career paths in the digi-scrap world for me to consider.

I decided (finally) that my focus is going to be on creating services and products specifically designed to assist the digi-scrapper who’s gone professional or who is headed in that direction.  I see a hole in the market right here and I’m going to help fill it.  I’ve already started building the main website (one of 2 or 3) that will help set the foundation for this business venture.  If anyone is curious about checking it out, please jump on over to my still-under-construction DSD-Pro website and don’t be shy about telling me your thoughts so far.

I’ve managed to put together a team of partners and we’re tweaking the business plan, putting some final touches in place.  We have already started creating our initial set of products and services and I’m getting pretty stoked about it all.  For the next month or so my hands will be full in setting up my web presence, branding the sites, and getting the first round of services/products put into place.  We’re hoping for an August ribbon cutting for the business.  Then when all the software is in place and the first round of marketing efforts have begun to show signs of healthy growth we’ll be introducing our business association and the services attached to it.  The goal is to reach that milestone by end of October.

Currently I’m the primary content provider on the site and until my techy dude gets online I’m filling that role too.  So I’m writing articles AND computer coding at the same time and I do believe they are starting to run together.  LOL  🙂  But I’m looking for guest writers and preparing to do some podcast type interviews shortly after the writing piece starts to slow down or at least become more common practice for me.

I’m really looking forward to the part that I think will bring me the most tickles and that’s diving into the screencast tutorials.  I’ve been playing with several different software options and am seeing the great level of potential this piece of the business offers.  I get a little ahead of myself on this one as it’s that teaching/learning thing that I love to do so much and can hardly wait to really throw my energies into.  But I keep having to pull myself back from that and handle the more important business side of this infant business venture.

I just get the last baby out of the nest and then give birth to new one?  What’s up with that?!  This is one that I suspect will throw far more fits my way than any of our 5 daughters did!  ROFLOL

I’ve broken my promise about not rambling on too long over this, so I best be signing out of here for now.  Plus I’ve got a cyber crop over at CHW tonight that I must get ready for.  Come and join us if you have time.  We’re going to be playing with altered books/creative journaling.

We have to take a little commercial break from my story.  Miss Jeanne tagged me and so there’s the usual silly shares to do.  So let’s see… I think I’m supposed to share 7 unknown facts about myself then tag 7 other folks.  My, my that will be difficult.  Because I don’t think there are 7 unknown things about me.  I think I’ve told too many things about myself in my 40-something years.  But I’ll give it a go with 3 little factoids instead and then tag only one other blogger.

I’ll call this newly created tag, the 3-for-1 Tag.  New folks tagged are asked to share with their blog readers three unknown things about themself and then tag one blogger friend of theirs — telling that person to blog 3 for 1 again.

So here’s the 3 silly unknowns about me:

1. I don’t always play by the rules and sometimes I even change them. 😉

2. I got a new laptop this weekend.  Cuz my husband luvs me and spoils me all the time.  He surprised me with the news on our Friday night date.  Which happen to be at our favorite Anniversary hangout.

3.  I’m a total bacon nut.  If it’s w/in a 100 yards I can smell it and head straight for it.  Remember those old commercials with the dogs sniffin’ out their treat and the announcer in the background is saying, “bacon, bacon, bacon”…. “I’m a lucky dog!”  That’s me every Sunday morning as DH fries it up just the way I like it.

So now I gotta tag someone else too?  Oh dear, I’ve tagged so many others in the past, that I might be running out of friends.  I think I’ll tag:

Kelle from Two Dancing Crows

If you’ve never been to visit her blog – now is a great time to do it.  She’s just recently posted a link to the magazine she writes for and it’s awesome!

I have held off on posting my thoughts about this for a while as I have been struggling to get my hands around a final decision.  Our youngest DD leaving the nest and moving onward with her life has freed up more time and energies for me to pursue some career changes that have been on hold – just waiting for this time in our lives.  Wahoo! 😀  Changes are on the horizon and are already being put into place.  I’m going back to working for myself again!

I’ve been working for the government as a data Analyst/IM Specialist far too long.  I’ve enjoyed the ride and the comfortable paycheck that goes with it too.  But I have missed (so very much) the entrepreneurial world I left ten years ago.  Making the decision to shoot out on my own again isn’t what I’ve been struggling with.  That has always been part of the master plan.  When I sold our consulting business to my partner in 1996, it was with a great deal of hesitation.  I feared I wouldn’t be able to “make it” in the government work world.

You see I’m not a very corporate minded person.  A career in government doesn’t hold any “tickle” or sense of inner joy for me.  It does hold learning opportunities and a steady paycheck along with a juicy benefit package as well.  All things that I knew would make life more comfortable for my family.  (My family’s happiness has and always will be one of the highest priorities in life.)  As it has turned out, during my time as a public servant I’ve worn several different hats, all within the path of a Data Analysis/Program Management with an IM Specialty attached.  Each turn around the bend afforded me new opportunities for both personal and career growth.  Each offered me the same or higher pay.  Each an adventure that proved to be one I was not just capable of meeting  – but always exceeding the expectations and goals.  So I was wrong about fearing I couldn’t hack in this career field.  It’s actually quit easy.  Much easier than I ever thought it would be.  Although there have been challenging moments (and people) I’ve experienced along the ride – it hasn’t been enough of a challenge to satisfy my inside yearnings and I’m happy the ride is coming to an end in the very near future.

Maybe it’s due to the entrepreneurship of my parents and the household I grew up in.  Maybe it’s just a gut feeling thing.  I’m not sure.  But I have always known that I’m a small business type of gal who prefers not to get wrapped up in the political battles that play out in the corporate world.  Working for me is what leaves me feeling satisfied, the most comfortable, and the happiest.  It’s the work environment that I “thrive” in.  So I knew and planned ahead to approach my job with the government as just that – a long term, but temporary job.  Not a career.  Knowing that after my kids left the house I could return to my true calling.  Self employment has always held a sense of dare-devilness to it; a sense of adventure and most importantly a place where I can be creative.  Honestly, I think it’s the free-flowing creative side of things that’s the root of my inner drive in this direction.  There’s never been any doubt that the lack of financial stability is the only thing that has kept me away!!!

Which brings me back to the first thought I shared with you – my decision struggles.  The things that I’ve been tossing around in my head and trying to decide is what, specifically, I want to do as an independent, now that “my time” is here again.  For months now I’ve been toying with ideas and researching various avenues in planning my career move.  Two very prominent goals and one pain-in-the-butt requirement stand at the base of my final career path decision.  One goal is that the income generated must equal to or greater than my current salary, be stable, and residual by nature.  The second is that the bulk of my daily activities must allow me unlimited opportunities for self-driven expressions of creativity.  Then there’s also the very real requirement (that I totally hate) for my new career to be conducive to what my health will allow.  Because pain management plays a constant role in my life – it simply can’t be ignored.  Dam it!  I wish pretending it wasn’t there was an option.  However it isn’t and it sucks that this fact is a driving factor in so many life decisions.

So with those factors in mind I’ve just about made up my mind on which new path to take.  But since this has turned into a much longer post than I expected,  I believe I will wrap it up today with the message that – I’m happy.  I’m excited.  I’ve got some mojo working inside me like I haven’t felt in a very long time!  I’ve got my career options laid out in front of me and I’m just about to jump into my new adventure.  What will it be? Tune in next time when this story really begins to unfold in the continued series of Chips Antidotal Wanderings.

ROFLOL – oh don’t you just hate those sequel shows that continue right when it’s at the peak of excitement?

But only for a limited time.  So check it out now if you want to get the free digi-scrapper goodies!

Today when I was doing some basic clean up and looking for an old tutorial I wrote, I discovered I had more tutes online than I realized.  Most of them are of course posted at CHW.  So I decided to help me be more organized and to help my visitors find any tutorial I may mention in my blog – by creating a blog page listing the tutes I’ve managed to get written and posted online.

It’s not an all-enclusive listing and so far it’s not as well organized as I hope to eventually get it.  But certainly it’s a good start.  So if’n you are looking for one of the tutorials I’ve written somewhere online, chances are you can find it listed on this page.  Check it out!

Some days the brain just simply doesn’t engage in a timely manner.  Case in point is two days ago when I am standing in Barnes and Noble.  Here I am browsing through the magazine rack.  A favorite activity of mine when visiting one of my favorite book hang outs.

I’m flipping through the pages of a Summerset Studio books.  I love the eye candy in the Stampinton and Company books! So like a dummy I stick this one in my basket forgetting that I already have a copy of the issue at home.

You see the problem is sometimes I look through several mags in a visit, I tend to purchase only one or two of them at that time, knowing that I’ll pick up the others on another visit.  But sometimes I’m known to buy the same one again… you know… out of stupidity and lack of coffee!

So now I have this fabulous $15 publication with terrific inspiration, beautiful photos, and tons of ideas that I’d love to pass along to another artful soul.  Check out the Stampington & Company website  to see what’s included in this one!  It’s the summer ’07 issue.

Do you want my extra copy?  Here’s the deal – be the first new member to sign up and log into the CHW community forums and mention this magazine in a posting.  Then I’ll shout back to you on the site and gladly pass this one along to you!  Come on over and check out the friendly folks at the Craft Happy Website!  We love to meet creative minds!

If I haven’t given it away to a new member within the next 10 days – I’ll happily send it to the first CHW member who mentions in our community forums, that they saw this blog entry.  🙂  If you’ve read this blog entry and don’t want the book, I’m perfectly willing to “gift it away” to another CHW member per your request.  Then it can be a RAK from both of us!

Looking forward to hearing from folks and passing along a little gift!

Well she did it!  The Boo has accomplished what she sometimes thought was the impossible.  Her high school years are over.  Here’s a couple of pix from the occasion.

Boo Looking for Family

Being one of the shortest gals in her class it can sometimes be difficult to get a good look through the crowd for your family.

Happy Boo @ Graduation!

But when she found us she gave us a terrific smile and a hello wave of joy!  See that chain around her neck?  It has my highschool senior ring on it.  Not sure why she didn’t want one of her own and instead asked if she could have mine when she graduated.  So I had presented her with it when we did the whole “cap and gown” thing before going to the celebration.  It was own little private moment… well, not too private.  Dad stood by with camera and I have some pics to add to the memory album again.

Boo in the shadows

Here’s a pic of the kids walking up to their seats and the shadows were just right for capturing a profile of Boo is what seemed like a moment of deep thought.  She probably was just trying not to trip on her gown and remember where she was suppose to sit.  Hehehehe.

The day was overcast with clouds all morning and we just knew it was going to rain on us… again.  (It did the same thing at her sister’s graduation 4-years before.)  Sure enough, we got poured on.  Not just a little mind you.  We were drenched by the time the day was through!  I felt so sorry for the kids who were freezing through their very special day.  The rain started as soon as the first young lady got up to give her speach.  From time to time it slowed down and even stopped for a while when they were each crossing the platform and receiving their deplomas.

Made for a great challenge in getting pictures and hearing the speaches.  But somehow the class of just over 400 young adults made it through the day along with their family and friends cheering them on.  Of course I cried.  But this time I remembered not to wear mascara and I’m not sure anyone would know the difference anyway with the soppy mess everyone was from the rain.

This picture was taken after the event.  She got herself cleaned up, re-gowned, and let us get a couple shots without any rain falling down.  🙂  She was sure glad to be back in warm, dry cloths again!

Yes – that’s the way I feel these days.  I’m not sure if I have a bug coming on or what.  My energy levels have been drained.  I’m keeping up with daily activities and not falling behind.  But I’m just trudging along without really much excitement or motivation in my soul.  It’s a bit out of charactor for me and I’ll be so glad when this heaviness leaves and the usual happy go lucky Cinny returns to normal!

Speaking of weathered and still standing — here’s a few clips from one of our weekend photo shoots.  These are not the best photos in the lot… but they are the ones I happen to have loaded online already.  These were all snapped by my dear hubby and then digitally tweaked (only a bit) by me.  We truly enjoy our “togetherness” projects.  😀

You can see larger views of any of these by visiting my flickr photo string and from there, simply click on the pictures.  They are in the Extra Photos Set tagged with “Old Building“. Thanks for looking.

Poppin’ my head in here today to let you know that I’m finally back to doing up a few more digi-art lessons and posting them in the community forums at CHW, in the art studio digi-tutorials section.  My most recent tutorials are to, creating bows with a realistic look, folded ribbons, and threading string-like elements through holes.

I’ve got a couple others that I’ve written for other forum communities, that I’ll be posting in the near future too.  🙂  But you know how long it takes me to get things accomplished and it is way to pretty outside today to be sitting in front of a computer.  So I’m going to head out of work early today and go play in my gardens.  They sure need some cleaning up!

Hope you find the lessons helpful.

So I’m in my blog today working on the blogroll page when I realized it’s been far too long since I last updated my blog entries.  My, my how the time does fly by quickly.  I can hardly believe it’s May already!  There’s a slight…. ever so slight chance that I’ll be better about updating my blog this month.  But no promises folks.  There’s a reason I refer to this place as my Antidotal Wanderings.  ROFLOL  I’ll ~try~ not to be such a bad blogger in the future

I’ve been staying busy playing in the yard a little bit on the weekends and working my fanny pretty hard at work througout the week.  I really hate sitting at my desk when the weather is so very nice.  We’ve had terrifically sunny days with soothing spring rains in the late afternoon.  I’m loving how everything is greening up so nicely.  Picked up some new garden gloves and garden shoes while in town last night having a dinner date with hubby.  So I’m ready to get back out there and do some more weeding again this Saturday.  We’ve got at least one more tree to plant soon and I’m nearly ready to pick up a few more periennials to give us more color in the gardens.  Must get the beds prepped first.  My irises are sprouting up their little heads and it won’t belong before the buds open up and show off their beautiful blooms.  Iris season is one of my favorites!

We’ve also been doing some little weekend photo shoots.  Our recent outings have been specifically for snapping pics of rugged buildings and typical Wyoming sites.  So we have a few windmills, barns, out-houses, and such.  Mr Greg is working on a coffee table photo album with his works in it.  Well I should say WE are working on the album.  He’s the photographer,  I’m the… everything else.  I’ve got the book ready to alter and my design ideas in mind.  The pages are planned out and some of the photos already cropped in the computer waiting to be printed.  Now I just need to set aside some time to actually get’er done!  I’ll post some pics soon to show you what type of photos he’s got set aside for putting in his book thus far.

But first I need to finish getting some photos printed out and sent to mom — or she’ll be after me for sure!  Bye until the next time I wander back in to share the latest news from our home to yours.

Mom sent me some wonderful flowers for my birthday this year that were arranged in an oversize cup.  One with the biggest brightest happy face on it.  I’ve been using this cup in the mornings for my coffee or tea.  LOVE IT!  With a giant smile like this starting off my day, it helps to keep those blues at bay.

My morning cup

I’ve always enjoyed the smell of fresh roasted coffee beans.  However, I used to hate the taste of it all.  But with a little foo-foo creamer in there and a chocolate treat on the side… I think it makes for a nice start to my day!  I’ve decided I lvoe my morning coffee!

Thanks Mom for the giant cup!

Did you miss last weeks Cyber-Crops at CHW?  The ones where we created a bunch of little RAK-attack cards from the paper scraps in our art studios?  Well never fear – I loaded the tutorial in our “paper arts” studio forums this yesterday!

Here’s a sampling of the ones I created:

—>  I think Benita is hosting a cyber crop tomorrow for some gift box making activity.

—>   We’ll be having another cyber crop next weekend too.  That one for creating some ATC’s using water-color crayons or water color paints.  I’ll post more info on that in the next few days!

In case you hadn’t noticed my link pages, I wanted to tell you about them and encourage you to visit them when you get a chance.  You can access them from the sidebar menu.

–> My main Web Links Page shows links to the other websites that I host.

–> The Artful Links Page has a listing of web sitings on it with a creative flavor.  Sites I like to visit from time to time.

–> My Blog Roll Page  is a listing of personal blogs I enjoy peeking in on.  I don’t get to blog hop as much as I used to.  But I do enjoy stopping in and leaving a note to my creative friends now and again!

If you would like your creative website or blog added to the list, drop me a note and I’ll check it out.  I love meeting new folks and seeing what they like to chatter about on their blogs and websites too!

This morning, like the last three, we had a fresh coat of snow on the ground.  Not very deep.  Actually there’s just enough to make things pretty.  We had fog settling in and so there was lots of moisture in the air giving the snow a shiny crust of sparkle on top.  🙂

So when I went out to get the paper, I also took a few pictures of the little frogs who play in one of the gardens in my front yard.  Even though my garden is still sleepy and not ready for blooming yet, these little critters just looked like they were in blissful moments just the same.

Frog Triptych

So instead of Easter bunnies this year…. I share with you Easter morning frogs.

Easter Frogs Diptych

We are just chillin’ out for the day and enjoying some relaxation “down-time” with each other today.  Hope you all have a terrific Easter!

This year for my birthday I asked Hubby if he would make me a new stand for my flute… and he did!  Wahoo! It came out just perfectly according to my desires.  I hinted that I wanted a stand that would hold two flutes as I hope to score a new one again this July.

On the stand he made me, he included feathers.  One of them came from our cockatiel, Popcorn.  She happens to be multing now so the timing could not have been better.  LOL

He is just the sweetest!

The next set of digital pages for the Circle Journal swap at Tinkering Inks, is for Teresa.  She asked us to create pages about a secret we have or something that few people knew about us.  My secret is about hanging out on Sunday mornings in my jammies being lazy with my Sadoku book in hand.

Lazy Me Moments

I used background papers from Lisa howell’s Sandalwood kit. Then created matching rick-rack and button tacks. The journaling reads:

a secret about me… flannel pajama’s, my fur baby dog Lacy curled up next to me… a Sadoku puzzle book along with my fuzzy slippers and a cup of coffee – is how I lazily pass away two hours of my Sunday morning…. that is if I don’t get interupted.

That’s the ever popular “Put that camera away!” look I’m showing here. ROFLOL

Over at CHW we are off and running with our monthly ATC swap.  The one that’s going to result in a creative book being published.  Every participant will be featured with their art in the book due to be published in the early months of 2008.

This swap is for paper artists. Creating layered cards.  The sign up deadline is the 1st of each month and the postal due date is the 10th of each month.  This swap is limited to 9 participants each month.  So if you are interested in participating in the swap, be sure to jump over to the CHW swap forums and get the details ASAP.  The slots begin to fill up as soon as the monthly announcements are posted!

The February theme was Love and Roses.  Here’s an example of the cards I accomplished for the month:

Love & Roses ATC's

The March theme is Friendship and the April theme is In Full Bloom.  I’m working on those now and having a great time with it too!

Thanks for Stopping in to visit today!
